Now offering three separate classes: Recreation Kayaking, Sea Kayak Touring and Open Water Classes. All of our classes are instructed by ACA (or equivalent) certified instructors. We will supply the kayak and gear you need for the class, but you are always welcome to practice with your own. Wetsuits are also available for Muscongus Bay lessons and when requested. Reservations required, please call (207) 563-5732.

Recreation Kayaking   $45       2 hours    Monday 9:00 a.m
First stop beginner course for those who have never really kayaked. We will practice getting in and out of the kayak, and then get on the water to practice forward paddling, turning, and stopping. We will then use these skills to explore Biscay Pond and the Pemaquid River. Instructors will then demonstrate a wet exiting scenario and self and buddy rescues. This class meets at Biscay Pond on Biscay Road on Monday morning at 10:00.

Sea Kayak Touring   $60       3 hours   Mon. 1:00 p.m and Thurs. 1:30 p.m
The Touring Essentials class is still for beginners or those that need a bit more practice to get back out on the water. We will discuss weather and tides, route/trip planning, and safety gear. Plenty of time will be spent learning the forward, reverse, and sweep strokes, which we will practice while exploring. Emphasis will then be placed on self and assisted rescues, one of the most important skills for sea kayak touring. This class meets at Biscay Pond or Muscongus Harbor.

Open Water Sea Kayaking   $75       4 hours   Tues. 1:00 p.m
For experienced paddlers who want to increase their skills on open water. Trip planning and navigation will be discussed before concentrating on the leans, paddle strokes, and rescues necessary for safe island to island crossings. In addition, we will observe and understand the effect of wind, weather, and tides on our kayak trip. Open water lessons take place on Muscongus Bay and we meet at our touring kayak shack. Scheduled for Tuesday afternoons, or when conditions are a little more windy.
